Model Primary School Growing Club |
Carrickfergus Model P.S. Growing Club comprises a number of P6 and P7 pupils working together on a Thursday afternoon after school. After the installation of a growing box, they have been working very hard to cultivate a number of fruit and vegetables, namely, beans, potatoes and strawberries. They have been engaged in the preparation, nurture and harvesting of all the fruit and vegetables and have undertaken activities such as sowing and planting, building a scarecrow and obelisks and preparing the soil again for the next growing season. Pupils have also been engaged in enhancing the grounds of the school through planting summer bedding plants and spring bulbs. Everyone has worked very hard and has even been able to enjoy the fruits of their labour with the assistance of the school kitchen!
